Originally from Zhejiang, Z is currently studying in Year 9 at a school affiliated with a renowned private education group in Shanghai. Z has excellent academic results in all subjects, a solid foundation in English, and is also the head of the school's Student Union, a member of the school's Basketball team, and a member of the school's Badminton team.
The parents and their child's goal was to apply to two local international schools in Singapore: Hwa Chong International School and St. Joseph's Institution International, and hope to enroll in early 2025. Within a short period of 2 months, we assisted Z in preparing the documents, submitting the application, and preparing for the entrance exams (written test + interview) in a very efficient manner, and Z was the first one to be offered admission to Hwa Chong International School (HCIS) in Singapore in mid-September 2024, and Z was very pleased to be accepted.
Hwa Chong International School (HCIS) is one of the three local international schools in Singapore (the other two are ACS and SJII). These three local international schools are run by the Ministry of Education, but they are privately funded and are free to set their own programs and fees.
We recommend local international schools like Hwa Chong International School (HCIS) to parents for a number of reasons: it is easier to get a place than at a local Singapore public school; the teaching combines the local Singapore curriculum with international curricula (e.g., IB and A Level programs); the fees are lower than at many purely international schools; and the academic standards are high.
In the case of Z's further education services, the time was tight and the task was heavy. We strived to be efficient and organized in every step of the process, and after countless hours of unremitting communication with the local institutions in Singapore, we succeeded in securing the last entrance examination opportunity for Z. We also arranged a place for the student at a local institution in Singapore. At the same time, we arranged a pre-test training for the student at a local institution in Singapore to ensure that Z completed the training in August and successfully passed the 2024 round of written exams and interviews at the two institutions.
June 24: Received consultation from Z's family on studying abroad and formulated a plan.
July 15: Completed all the application materials, submitted the formal application to the school, and simultaneously arranged for the pre-exam intensive training course.
August 14: Students traveled to Singapore and completed the written exams for both institutions in one go.
End of August - Early September: Attend interviews at both institutions
September 11: Successfully gained admission to Hwa Chong International School (HCIS).
Case Review: The competition for admission to Singapore's top primary and secondary schools is very fierce, and Z, the student in this case, traveled to Singapore to take the entrance exam, and stood out from the hundreds of candidates, both with his own solid academic foundation, coupled with precise and intensive pre-test training, which is the key point of success.
